Student’s Daughter Baptized at the Chapel’s Baptismal Font.

Pastor Vsevolod Lytkin of the Lutheran parish in Novosibirsk conducted the baptism of Angelina Yekel at the chapel of the seminary. Angelina is the daughter of seminary student Sergei Yekel, who came to study at LTS from Novye Byrasy, Saratov Region.

Sergei is a first-year students at the seminary. He is 31 years old, married, with one daughter, 1 1/2. At first he came alone, his family having remained at home. It was, however, increasingly difficult for him to be apart from his family for so long. So his wife, Natalia, and daughter joined him in March of 2000.

This baptism in the seminary chapel was special in the sense that for the first time the baptismal font was used for its designated purpose. One other baptism was done in the chapel two years ago, but at that time the font was not used. Now the water from this baptism remains in the font as a symbolic reminder of the salvific character of Christian baptism. The whole community of workers and seminarians at LTS rejoiced as yet another person entered the wondrous Kingdom of Light, having been born of water and Spirit.
